The excavator comes on site to level the building platform. All top soil is removed and put to one side – eventually to become a rammed earth floor. The first felled timbers are delivered to the site, some of which are placed in jigs to bend them to precise curves. |

Although the beginning of the month was incredibly wet, the last two weeks of December has been miraculously dry enough to put all of the wall posts in the ground. Each post is set 1 metre into chalk and held in place with many thin layers of tamped chalk. |
